1,200 Russian Federation war crimes have already been documented in the Kyiv region.

Details: The National Police are currently documenting all war crimes committed, interviewing locals and gathering evidence.

If a person is found dead, the body is exhumed, all the necessary examinations are performed to obtain evidence and to verify the person who committed the crime. DNA analysis will be used to identify involvement in the crime. Not only the perpetrator, but also his commander will be held responsible.

According to Denys Monastyrskyy: «Violence committed by the aggressor during wartime is classified as a war crime. Such crime has no statute of limitations, the perpetrator will be held accountable. He is placed on the wanted list and can be apprehended in any country and extradited to Ukraine to face justice. (…)»

«Over 600 infiltrators have been detained during the war. The highest number of war crimes has been documented in the Kyiv region, currently it’s 1,200 [war crimes -ed.].»

Details: During the reconnaissance, the National Guard of Ukraine recently found a book of staff records, a list of military personnel, combat and numerical calculations. This record allows to verify the identity of people who have been in the towns and will speed up the search for war criminals.

Dmytro Zhyvytskyy, Head of Sumy Military Administration, reported three people found tortured in the Konotop district.

According to Zhyvytskyy: «The area (Konotop district — ed.) is continuing to recover from the orcs’ (Russian troops -ed.) invasion.

At least three tortured Ukrainians have already been found at former enemy strongholds. They were civilians.»

Background:

• On 1 April, the city head of Bucha, Anatolii Fedoruk, said that the city had been liberated from the Russian invaders.
• On 2 April, Fedoruk said that a mass grave with around 300 people buried in the city had been discovered, with dozens of corpses lying in the streets, some of them with their hands tied.
• On 3 April, the prosecutor-general said that 410 bodies of murdered civilians had been removed from the Kyiv Region, which had been liberated from the invaders — these victims are being examined by forensic experts to document Russian crimes.

Joint Forces Operation headquarters has reported that Russian invaders hit a phenol plant in the Donetsk region during shelling.

Details: Joint Forces Operation headquarters has stated that 7 hits to the phenol plant have been recorded, during which the following were damaged: 3 distillation columns; 3 collectors of marketable products, the inter-floor slabs of the oil distillation facility, material pipelines, an oil-tank car and metal structures.

«There is no danger to the environment,» the statement said.

Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, has reported that there are currently about 600 Russians held prisoner in Ukraine.

According to Vereshchuk: «There are about 600 of them now if we talk about the total number.

You know, we have to build a special camp in accordance with international law.»

Details: Iryna Vereshchuk added that the issue of a large number of prisoners has been discussed at a meeting with government officials.

«We discussed how to force Russia to allow the Red Cross to reach our prisoners, and about how to force Russia to release prisoners. Some of them have been detained in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions since 2014, including women,» the Minister said.
